looking out the window of caffe vita on pike it looks like winter again. it looks 180 degrees different than it did over the weekend. in one word I would say the trifecta was transformed for the block party, which i suppose was obvious.
wall to wall kids/adults shuffling past another looking for a band to watch, a beer to chug or a friend to do both with.
people leaving within the gates of the block party got in for free…which makes sense but shit! what VIP’s. those kids on the roof tops knew they were making people jealous as they shook their booties and their beer mugs at the mush of bodies below. i’m not jealous-i love getting my face smashed into that frat boy’s sweaty polo pit as he fist pumps to chromeo…yup, love that.
the boys at super genius made some cash this weekend. one informed me he had 1000 bucks in cash on him after friday’s rush. damn. why weren’t drinks on you?!
during that same conversation we overheard a guy welcoming a friend to ‘the infamous comet tavern‘. he had on a pair of tevas….blah. i suppose that’s part of the fun of block party though, eh? welcoming tevas to the comet? bringing two worlds together in a sense? i’m getting a pair asap.
the saturday knights were the super secret surprise that wasn’t really a surprise at all because the staff at neumo’s can’t keep their yappers shut which works for me cause it meant we scooted our american apparel clad asses over.
the fiona apple wanna be, kaylee cole, playing the cha cha on statuday afternoon actually was a nice relief from the sweaty beer garden. it was happy hour at the time which means we put thomas to work ordering a round of margaritas for all 7 of us. and while i am on that subject the entrance to the beer garden was 0 on the caffe vita side versus the lengthy mass of people waiting in the middle of the street….use your head strangers!
for a girl who has slowly developed a deep affection towards this tiny intersection, there was nothing better than the haze of a few vodka sodas under the twilight sky swaying around with the friends that matter most (minus pumpkin of course-love you bitch).
ps. thanks to our friend josh over at flickr for the pix!
