tomorrow is friday night. ugh.

friday night on the hill, as we have discovered, is overrun with strangers, which is fine except that we are ignorant and close minded and choose to mingle with only those who are exactly like us.

ok, ok. so i am joking about that but i am totally serious about the friday night sucking thing. havana is a nordstrom’s fashion show and linda’s becomes homebase for all things REI. thats cool and all but crowds of that sort are hard to handle. i’m not trying to be rude, just honest.

my point of this post is as follows: friday nights are lame but the LEAST lame place is at the war room. yes, the war room past sunset may sound absurd but i assure you this dance party will make your straightened hair curl.

its called sing sing and noted dj pretty titty and guests will spin. it goes off every 1st and 3rd friday of the month so if you can’t get through the line tomor you can try again in two weeks.

during a discussion of the very popular night with a very popular friend he described the crowd as “the creme de la creme of cap hill”. whatever that means, he was right. the scene looked just like a series of pix from thecobrasnake.com.

it may be a few blocks from the trifecta, but god knows we need to branch out…and so should you.

thanks to gooutandkilltonight.wordpress.com for the pic. can we be blog friends? k, cool.

click it, maybe you’ll see yourself. (disclaimer: link isn’t working, however goutandkilltonight.blogspot.com is old but still has some stuff)

I’m jealous. It sounds like you guys have more fun on an off night than I have in a month.

Oh god. “Creme de la creme”? If you go to Sing Sing or the War Room in general for “the crowd”, you’re missing the point. It’s sort of masturbatory to go to a place to be one of the people looking at other people look at you, right? It’s popular because the music is hands-down the best in the city. That’s the draw for musicians/artists/etc. The draw for the urban outfitters girls is being around the people they wish they were. I don’t care that you posted about this, but if you want it to stay not lame, don’t present it as no more than the place where the “popular kids” hang out.

shiesta joshua, how do you really feel?

let’s be real, these guys and gals (or ‘urban outfitters’ as you affectionately refer) are paying patrons. there isn’t a asterisk on the flier or a sign on the door that says you can only enter if you’re an artist. despite some folks’ reasoning, i don’t think the war room cares which people are there for music and which are there for the scene.

either way they’re paying. and truth be told, you’d be a fool to believe that everyone there is entirely there for just the music. like it or not, this is a see to be seen kinda neighborhood that isn’t about to change anytime soon.

p.s. nice use of maturbatory, a+
